Rachel and Chris are an incredibly busy couple. Rachel is popularly known around Richmond as the model for Need Supply Co., but when she is not in front of the lens, she serves as the boutiques’ blogger, website writer, and assistant stylist. Aside from that, Rachel has her own jewelry line, Academy Jewelry. A line that she officially started in the fall of 2010 but previously dabbled in jewelry design for years prior.
Chris has an equally sized plate as a menswear buyer for Need Supply Co., soccer coach, occasional cook at The Roosevelt, and undoubtedly the best dressed middle and high school teacher in Richmond’s West End. On a rare not so hectic weekend for the couple, I had the pleasure to spend a Sunday afternoon with the pair in the home they share on the outskirts of the city.
Chris was at the hull of an exclusive collaboration between The Alden Shoe Company and Need Supply. Chris’ meticulously designed Seven Hills Indy Boot features a rugged waxed calf tan dakota upper, white vibran out-sole, and Alden’s tradition of superior quality craftsmanship.

Memory of the Garden at Etten (Ladies of Arles) - Vincent van Gogh, 1888.
Post-Impressionism - Oil on canvas, 73 x 92 cm.
The work was created in November 1888, when van Gogh was living at Arles with Gauguin. Provence provoked memories of his hometown in Holland. The bitterness of his unrealized dream to create a brotherhood of painters, the Southern Workshop, colored his memories of the past in a range of anxious yellow, green & blue with flashes of red. The texture of the surface, made of paint laid thickly or squeezed directly onto the canvas, reveals the tension within the artist.
Permanent Collection of the State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia.
Today felt like this.
